Participating in Teacher Workshops to Learn about Food and Farming Education.  

In addition to collecting relevant information from the internet and books, we also gained a deeper understanding of food education through two teacher workshops, as well as through the design of board games.

(1) Teacher Workshop - "The Legendary Rice Market Street"

         
   
         

Brief Description:
“Bread is the staff of life.” The early flourishing town of Lukang, with the establishment of the Babao Canal by Shi Shibang in 1709 at the suggestion of Mr. Lin, gained a stable water source for irrigation in the Changhua Plain, making Lukang an important rice distribution center in central Taiwan.
In the forty-ninth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, after the formal approval of the cross-strait passage between Lukang and Quanzhou, Fujian Province, Lukang entered its heyday. With the rapid development of trade between China and Taiwan. A century later, although Rice Market Street has been renamed Meishi Street and no longer has rice shops, the name of rice cakes and pastries remains in the memory of the people of Lukang. Through playing board games, we also learned about the history of the antagonism between rice and sugar.

Brief Description:
The Kashi Good Rice workshop uses hands-on experiences to lead learners to understand local agriculture, dietary lifestyles, and the cultural and ecological connections formed by both, to develop the ability to make correct food choices and inherit good dietary cultural traditions.
To promote food rice education, Mr. Chen Jiankai, a young farmer deeply knowledgeable about rice, plans learning objectives suitable for students at different educational stages. And Ms. Shi Peijun, a nutritionist, explains concepts such as rice nutrition and proper dietary habits to effectively root food rice education downwards.
Through this teacher workshop on DIY red turtle cakes, we introduce the characteristics of "eating rice, local produce, low carbon, and sustainability," deepening the knowledge of the rice industry, rice-based foods, and emerging rice-based products. This aims to enhance the effectiveness of rice education and cultivate students' dietary habits with rice as the staple food.
