Red turtle cakes are used for worship, gifts, and food. Red-faced turtles, red turtle cakes, red turtle buns, and glutinous rice turtles has made the "turtle" practically a totem for the people of Lukang.

Are red turtle cakes made from flour?

Rice has long been the one and only food for civilians because of the subtropical climate in Taiwan. Therefore, Taiwanese desserts were mostly made from rice in early years.

Nowadays, the stage has been taken over by flour, and cakes are no longer prevalent in modern diets.

When did it come to Taiwan?(When)?

From three to four hundred years ago, the Han Chinese settlers have been cultivating Taiwan, which brings the cultures and tradition of rice-based diet.
