Crisis of Leopard cats
Habitat loss
Leopard cats mainly live in shallow mountain areas below 800 meters above sea level, close to the range of human activities. Public development such as industrial zones, science parks, road or stream improvement, large-scale land development, and private development such as farms, villas, and campsites have continuously reduced and fragmented the leopard cat's habitat.
Due to frequent land changes and the lack of shelter away from human interference, it is very unfavorable for the survival and rearing of leopard cats, and has also led to the occurrence of orphaned leopard cats.
In addition, because farmers did not want to spend time mowing the grass, they used fire to weed. It was confirmed from a nearby automatic camera that the fire occurred on the afternoon of February 27, 2023. It may be that farmers burned weeds and caused the fire to get out of control. Researchers on March 3 On the 2nd, and returned to the burned area to search and found the bodies of two burned-to-death leopard cat cubs, about one month old. They were brought back and examined by veterinarians as one male and one female.(Source:Ministry of Agriculture Endemic Biological Research and Conservation Center)

★Concerned about the leopard cat distribution hot area development project
When more people continue to pay attention to development projects, they can put pressure on the government and development units and educate farmers not to use fire to weed weeds.
