The teacher told me that the leopard cat is a wild cat in Taiwan. It is larger than ordinary cats but its number is getting smaller and smaller. I heard that Miaoli County has a relatively large number of them, so incidents related to leopard cat are often reported in the news.
I was curious and searched online, and sure enough I immediately found news about a leopard cat in Miaoli County that ran to a chicken farm to eat chickens because it was hungry, but was caught by the chicken farm owner using a trap cage. In the end, the chicken farm owner handed the leopard cat over to the animal. released by conservation groups. At that time, I thought these leopard cats were so bad that they would eat chickens or ducks raised by humans. But the teacher told us that leopard cats only come to human places to find food when they have no choice. The habitat of leopard cats has been reduced due to human development, whole groups of stray dogs will also hunt leopard cats, so the number of leopard cats will become so small.
The teacher also told me that the reason why I saw this special sign on the side of the road is because we also have leopard cats in Fenyuan. Someone once killed a leopard cat passing by with a car, so this sign was set up to remind drivers passing through these sections of road. When driving, you can slow down and pay attention to small animals passing by. After listening to the teacher’s explanation, I felt that leopard cat was so pitiful. There were two kittens abandoned by their mother in our school. The teacher and we would take care of them. Everyone likes small animals. I want to look for Fenyuan with my classmates. The teacher is also willing to help. We hope that through action we can find leopard cats and hope that everyone will join us in protecting them.
