The theme of our research this year is about the leopard cats in Changhua. When I knew that it was the students who took the initiative to ask the teacher for help with the topic, I immediately wanted to join the ranks of guidance, because this is exactly what we want to cultivate students' ability to learn on their own.
After nearly a year of investigation and recording, we found that there are leopard cats in Changhua, and it is certain that some leopard cats have settled in Changhua near our school. It is really happy and touching to have such a discovery. I hope that through the efforts of students to promote and take actions, the leopard cat tribe can grow and expand.

I am very happy to lead students to study the ecology of leopard cats this year. The ecology of Fenyuan Township is quite rich. Every year from April to May, there are migrations of purple-spotted butterflies and southern road hawks. The routes pass through our school. Students can be exposed to these ecology without going outside the school.
Although I am very familiar with ecology, it was only through this theme that I realized that there are leopard cats in Changhua. During the investigation, my students and I set up cameras on the route through the grass and bamboo forests to where the leopard cats were. The road was not only difficult to walk, but also filled with mosquitoes and ants. But it was all worth it, and both the students and I learned a lot.

I originally thought that leopard cats were just animals in the news or in books, but I didn’t expect that there are indeed leopard cats in Changhua, and they are located near our school. During the research process, it was discovered that the crisis in leopard cat was mainly caused by us humans. There are so many stray dogs abandoned by humans in the wild, land development, arbitrary burning of weeds and the use of pesticides all pose great threats to the survival of leopard cats.
The concept of ecological conservation is gradually being taken seriously by everyone, and everyone is also aware that the number of some precious species is declining, so when we go to various schools to promote it or launch a petition, we almost encounter no resistance.Even if the poultry they raised were eaten by a leopard cat, the owner was not angry and immediately notified professionals to protect the leopard cat. I am also glad that there are county councilors who are willing to speak out and ask the government to protect leopard cat in accordance with the law. This makes the students' actions more meaningful and fulfilling.
